When He Was On the Cross

I’m not on an ego trip, I’m nothing on my own,
I make mistakes and all can see, just common flesh and bone.
But He’ll prove some day, just what I say I’m of a special kind,
When He was on the cross, I was on His mind.

He knew me, yet He loved me,
He, who’s glory makes the heavens shine.
So unworthy of such mercy,
When He was on the cross, I was on His mind.

The look of love was on His face, the thorns upon His head,
The blood ran down that scarlet robe, it stained with crimson red.
Though His eyes were on the crowd that day, Jesus looked ahead in time.
For when He was on the cross that day, you and I were on His mind,

He knew me, yet He loved me,
He whose glory makes the heavens shine.
So unworthy of such mercy,
Oh when He was on the cross, I was on His mind,
When He was on the cross, I was on His mind.
